Our residents took part in a Ballroom Dancing class recently.
At St. George’s Nursing Home, we are very much focussed on encouraging physical exercise throughout our comprehensive Activities Programme.
According to the National Institute for Ageing, exercise can ease symptoms of many chronic conditions and improve strength, balance and bone density. Improving balance reduces the risk of falls. In fact, the World Health Organisation says regular exercise can reduce the risk of having a hip fracture by 40%. Physical exercise can also reduce the risk of developing dementia, according to a recent study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.
As well as the physical benefits, our Activities Programme is also a great way to encourage our residents to socialise too, and we always have a lot of fun during our activities!
